Wasiu Ayinde Is A Novice, Says Iyanda Sawaba
As feud over who is the
originator of Fuji music rocking the industry persists, legendary Fuji
musician, Alhaji Isiaka Abiodun Iyanda
Sawaba otherwise called Easy Sawaba has described Wasiu Ayinde famously called
K1as a novice over a recent controversial statement credited to him (K1) on
Fuji music hierarchy and supremacy.
Speaking with NewsCastleNigeria.blogspot.com
during a telephone chat, the veteran Fuji musician said that K1 is a novice at
talking on the subject matter; Fuji music hierarchy and supremacy.
It will be recalled that
Wasiu Ayinde during his recent 60th birthday celebration allegedly
claimed that the late Fuji music icon Sikiru Ayinde Barrister was not the
originator of Fuji music.
Reacting to the statement,
Sawaba who debuted in 1974 with Omo
Ewenla Tide’gbale from the stable of Olumo Records argued that “Wasiu
Ayinde is a novice at talking on Fuji music leadership.
Nobody can claim to be the
originator of Fuji music except the late dr. Sikiru Ayinde Barrister.
I keep the history until my
next album due for release soon where the truth about Fuji music leadership
will be unveiled”, he promised
Sixty five years old Easy
Sawaba held sway in the first half of the 1980s with his famous Pataolokun album.
Ghana born Sawaba who hails
from Ile Aperin in Orita- Aperin area of Ibadan has dropped more than twenty two albums
including Suru, Igbo Odaju, Pata Olokun, Ayetoto and Oroseniwo among
others from the stable of Adetunji Records owned by the present Olubadan, Oba
Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso 1.
He became more popular with
his leading role among the then younger generation of Fuji musicians who
supported the late Fuij icon, Sikiru Ayinde Barrister when the supremacy rivalry
between the former and General Kollington Ayinla was red hot.
After the ‘Ceasefire’, he was
signed on the stable of the Keji Okunowo-led defunct Sony Music in 1992 where
he released another successful album titled Message produced by Laolu Akins.
